Rechargeable flashlights solve this problem, by making it easy to have a flashlight that is always ready to be used. Traditional flashlights used alkaline batteries, their lights were not meant to be used for long periods of time, and the lights were very dim. New technology improved upon the function and design of traditional flashlights, but these flashlights still needed their environmentally damaging alkaline batteries to be replaced frequently.
